Septic tank replacement & upgrades

Systems that discharge to a ditch, stream or river face stricter rules; the right replacement depends on the site and the ground.

What this covers

Replacing failed septic tanks, cesspits and old systems that discharge to a watercourse with a compliant system.

Do this first

  • Cut water use: spread out laundry, showers and the dishwasher.
  • Keep people, pets and vehicles away from wet ground or any sewage.
  • Do not lift or climb into a tank: gases inside can be deadly.
  • Note when the tank was last emptied and where the lids are, if you know.
